INUKA COMMUNITY BASED OVC PROJECT” (ICOP)

Introduction

Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) has been funded United States Agency for International Development to implement "INUKA Community based OVC project"(ICOP), covering Rarieda and Bondo Districts, Siaya County for a period of five-years.

 

Project goal

To expand service coverage and improve the overall wellbeing of Orphans and Vulnerable Children and their households in Bondo and Rarieda Districts.

 

Project Objective

The objective of Inuka Community Based OVC Project (ICOP), is to expand service coverage and improve the overall wellbeing of Orphans and Vulnerable Children and their households in Bondo and Rarieda Districts of Siaya County. Working in ten villages within the Districts, the project will strive to achieve the following results over a period of five years:

 

Intermediate Result (IR) Areas:
IR 1: Access to age-appropriate essentialservices for the betterment of the health of most needy 11,000 OVCs and 3000 OVC care- givers through direct, home- based and referral services enhanced.
IR 2: Capacity of local communities to deliver sustainable, quality, high impact range of critical services to OVCs built.
IR 3: The economic capabilities of 3,000 households looking after targeted OVCs Strengthened.
IR 4: Quality improvement of OVC service delivery within the 2 Districts promoted.

 

Previous and Current Projects in Siaya County

AMURT Kenya has vast experience of more than 15 years of working in Bondo/Rarieda which has led establishment of a community hospital in Mahaya with extensive outreach services to the communities. We have served close to 5000 Orphan and Vulnerable children through our Kenya Integrated HIV Program, and currently existing Aphia Plus Western project. We have established close working relationship with relevant GOK ministries and18 CSOs targeting OVCs and PLWHAs and collaboration with major USG partners and other NGOs working in the region.
